“Jewelry Theft Arrest” |
| Posted: 25 Nov 2010 03:00 PM PST Multiple jewelry stores are robbed in two counties. Police arrested 26-year-old Benjamin Lawless after they say he ripped off one jeweler in Morehead City, then pawned the goods in Jacksonville. On Sunday, police say Lawless broke through the glass at two other Jacksonville stores and stole more than $2,000 worth of jewelry. Police stopped him during a routine field investigation but had no cause for arrest. That stop did place him near the scene of the crime though, and when cops searched Lawless' home they found most of the stolen goods. Lawless is in jail under $26,000 bond.
