| Police: Jewelry Thieves Were Captured On Camera Posted: 29 Sep 2010 07:37 PM PDT MIAMI (CBS4) ― Miami police are hoping video surveillance footage of a group of men who burglarized two jewelry stores at the Mary Brickell Village will provide them with the leads they need to crack the case and catch the bad guys. Police say the burglaries happened just before 5 a.m. Tuesday at Sowinsky Jewelers and Brickell Jewelers located in the mall at 900 South Miami Avenue. When officers arrived they found that the glass fronted doors of both stores had been smashed in, the glass topped display cases had been shattered and jewelry littered the ground of both stores and on a path that led away from them. The crooks made off with tens of thousands of dollars worth of bracelets, necklaces, and watches. The robbers specifically targeted items that were made of gold. According to burglary detectives, all six burglars were black, 5'8"-5'9" tall, 140-150 lbs and wore masks. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Miami Police Department's Burglary Unit at (3050 603-6030 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477). (© MMX, CBS Broadcasting Inc.
